This time last year, a shelter cat named Patches made headlines due to his massive size: at 40 pounds, the cat was described as \u201cthe largest cat anyone has ever seen.\u201d\n

\nAfter getting adopted, Patches embarked on a much-needed weight loss journey. So how is he doing today? When he was first surrendered, he weighed 42 pounds. It was just a few pounds shy of the all time record.\nThe shelter wrote that they \u201clove that belly\u201d and \u201cmarvel at his gloriously gluttonous body,\u201d and the fat cat earned a lot of love and attention online.\nBut it was clear that his huge size was taking a toll on his wellbeing and he needed to get into shape. His new owner, Kay Ford, has also been busy keeping Patches\u2019 fans updated with her \u201cPatches\u2019 Journey\u201d Facebook page.\nThese updates include \u201cWeigh-in Wednesdays,\u201d which details Patches\u2019 weight loss journey week by week.\n\u201cI was like, let\u2019s just make this a regular feature and let\u2019s have everybody be a apart of it.\u201d Ford told WRIC. \u201cYou know, they want to know what\u2019s going in, let\u2019s let them know what\u2019s going on.
